Marquand Books envisioned their new retail store as a front porch for their well-established publishing company and a showroom for handcrafted products made in the arts incubator community of Tieton, WA. In a former parking garage, we designed an intimate space to convey sophistication, warmth, humor and the mark of the hand.
Fixtures were collaboratively designed with client and contractor to fit the unusual space precisely, then handcrafted in Tieton. The result is a thriving store and community gathering place that provides a welcoming face for Marquand Books and a flexible, ever-changing palette for their latest publications and letterpress designs, and curated collections of found objects and handmade goods.
